Pokoje VI - Prague - 2017

The showcase of young art revitalizes buildings in the center of Prague, this time in Hybernská Street. Over the course of nine days in November, visitors can witness the creations of 65 studios from 18 schools, as they present their site-specific installations on three floors of two buildings.

Nature is a significant part of my life, and escaping into it is my form of relaxation. However, perceiving nature as a whole is too superficial, and it is necessary to focus on its details, as that's where its magic lies. As the subject of my interest, I chose a forest pond with a marshy area near Prague. This piece of nature is a mysterious and seldom-visited part, despite being located just beyond the village of Voznice. The marsh is often overlooked due to its characteristic features. Some may find it dirty, smelly, and perhaps even evoke fear and anxiety. But for me, it is inspiring. Its mystery awakens a desire for exploration within me. I perceive it not as a tool for work but as a partner. The observation of this area began in the early autumn of 2017 and lasted until the late spring of 2018.

The first culmination of observing this specific piece of nature was an installation within the exhibition of art schools known as "Pokoje" (Rooms). This sixth edition took place from November 10th to 19th, 2017, in the administrative building on Hybernská Street before its reconstruction.

The area of observation was clear, as was the exhibition space, but connecting the two was a question. Despite initial uncertainty and numerous failed attempts to convey it to the viewers, I discovered wooden crates. Wood. How simple. A material that acts as a bridge between nature and the final artwork. The intention was to implant the selected landscape into the designated space. By entering and immersing oneself in the object, integration with nature was facilitated. Natural objects were complemented by three videos from the landscape area. The visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile sensations were combined within this installation.
